To help you get the most out of your MICRORACK experience, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we’ve received.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask in the comments below or in the new topic on our forum!

1. What is MICRORACK?

MICRORACK is a modular synthesizer system that allows you to easily build and customize your own synth setup. It’s designed to be flexible, affordable, and beginner-friendly, making modular synthesis accessible to everyone. You can use it with breadboards, rack mounts, and a wide range of analog modules.

2. How much will MICRORACK cost?

We aim to keep MICRORACK affordable. Here are our pricing options:

  • Starter Kit: Includes a single breadboard full of our best modules and a couple of extras. We’re targeting an entry price of less than $150.
  • Learning Kit: Features two breadboards with a dozen modules and a few extras. Priced around $250.
  • Pro Rack Kit: A portable rack chassis device compatible with Eurorack, full of modules, for approximately $350.

Stay tuned for more details and the latest updates on our pricing!

3. When will MICRORACK be available for purchase?

4. What power sources are compatible with MICRORACK?

MICRORACK is designed to be versatile and can be powered using various sources:

  • 5-14V via DC barrel jack
  • 5/9/12V via USB Type-C, depending on your power source

You can even use a power bank to power your MICRORACK on the go, making it perfect for mobile setups and outdoor sessions!

5. Are all modules analog?

Almost every module in the MICRORACK system is analog! Besides a PT chip for delay and a counter chip for the sequencer, all official MICRORACK modules are free of digital components.

However, we also offer a separate digital module based on the Arduino-compatible ESP32. This module can be programmed with various firmwares to function as an oscilloscope, USB audio interface, Max/MSP instrument (crazy!), MIDI-CV controller, digital sequencer with a web interface, and more. We plan to gradually release additional firmware options and encourage our community to contribute their own ideas!
