I’m not part of the team, but here’s a summary of the latest update for those that may have missed the Kickstarter message with some of my thoughts tossed in:
-
PCBs were produced, but had an outdated silkscreen and a very obvious factory mark on the face of the PCB. While I’m sure most of the community wouldn’t have minded the factory mark (not just to get their modules faster, but to have a cool, industrial looking rare piece), the silkscreen was problematic.
-
The jumpers were sent as a 3-wire/1 connector instead of 1-wire/1-connector. For obvious reasons, that wouldn’t work.
The above issues have been resolved and the team is waiting for the last components to arrive. Once that happens, pilot assembly and QA will begin, with the team having a presence to ensure things go correctly.
This week, the final parts should be arriving and the team should be heading out (safe travels, everyone!).
At the end of the month/beginning of September, is when I’d hope the next update regarding assembly and QA. If all goes according to plan, they hope to begin packing and shipping mid-to-late September so possible October arrivals for the first orders.
Again, if all goes according to plan.
More good news: they got some extra funding from some people to enable a larger run, allowing them to fulfill market purchases for those initial Kickstarter backers, making it a single shipment instead of having to wait for the market purchases.
They have had some concerns about deleted posts on the Kickstarter; they can’t delete comments on KS. This is probably because you can comment on the campaign itself and individual updates and locating where you made a comment on Kickstarter is not… great.
Finally, they’re hoping to bring on a part-time person to help keep things running smoothly on the Social Media side – Including here, I hope. Until they do, I’ll do what I can to keep things updated.
