MICRORACK 2025 Updates

All the updates about production will be here!

Hey MICRORACK People!

We know you’re eager to get your hands on MICRORACK, and our absolute priority is to bring you the best instrument possible as fast as we can. Thank you for being with us on that road.

We hope you all had a great holiday and set your big goals for 2025!

But we are here to share our progress:

Modules Development

We’ve finalized routing and layouts for all our modules, including amazing collaborations:

  • VCF module with Moritz Klein
  • Compressor, EQ and Saturator modules with Zvukofor Sound Labs
  • Vactrol Low Pass Gate module designed by a talented Buchla world engineer

Production Progress

  • Ordered final pre-release prototypes (arriving next week!)
  • Working with our hired production manager in China to get best quotations
  • Setting up test-sample orders with two carefully selected Chinese manufacturers (including one recommended by our friends at Flipper)
  • Manufacturing and shipping planned to begin right after Chinese New Year (early February 2025)

Coming late January (very soon)

  • Updated module descriptions coming to our forum
  • Backers only shop launch with fulfillment system for your Kickstarter orders

So, later in January we will collect your shipping details and payments for delivery to your destination and in February we start manufacturing and sending your synths!

We are almost there. Thank you for your patience and trust in us <3 We’re getting closer to bringing MICRORACK to life!

Stay tuned and keep making noise,
MICRORACK Team

We’re testing our pre-release modules and thrilled with the initial results!

The input module allows connection of external audio signals, microphones, etc. The output module enables connecting MICRORACK to any sound source, such as headphones or sound systems using 3.5mm or 6.3mm jacks.

By connecting the input and output modules, we measured the following performance characteristics across the 10Hz-20kHz range:

Frequency Response: 2 dB gain irregularity
Dynamic Range: 90 dB
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): 0.1%

Starting at just $119, MICRORACK offers high-quality audio performance typically found in more expensive systems.

These results are especially noteworthy for a compact modular system like MICRORACK. We’re inspired and will continue our testing!

  • Measurements were conducted using ARTA and REW software, with a Steinberg UR242 soundcard
  • THD measurement specifics: +4 dBu input, 10 Vpp MICRORACK signal level between input and output, 10 dB soundcard input headroom

Sweet!

Would it be possible to receive per module diagrams with the dimensions for possible plate construction?

thanks

Good question! We are even thinking on some sort of configuration tool to easily generate models for 3D printed cases/panels for any setup. But we will just publish specs and dimensions for each module first, for sure. Thanks for asking

That would be very cool!

It occurred to me after posting that the locations of the words and symbols is just as important.
Some may (and could) want to 3d print the char and sym, others may want (or need) to screen print.

I’m new to modular, and it’s my understanding that microrack will utilize cabling intended for proto board pins/sleeves but some may want to adapt to std modular patch cables?

What do you see out there in the stats?

Did I miss this or hasn’t it happened yet?

It hasn’t happened yet, at least not for me.

That message about „later in January“ was from earlier in January (on Telegram and Kickstarter), they just forgot to upload it here too at that time. Probably plans then got delayed, as they always do.

Yeah, I’m not particularly concerned about it. Take as much time as you guys need, I’m sure we’ll hear something as we get closer to the end of the month.

We have faced a little bit more issues than we’ve expected and since it’s just two of us working on solving them unfortunately our plans have shifted for a few weeks. We still plan to start shipping in March-April though. We are preparing an update very soon, stay tuned, and thank you for your posts, feedback and comments!

Not just you guys. The other project I backed around the same time encountered some issues and have to push things a couple weeks.

Take your time; having something that works arrive late is better than delivering a bad product on time.

Just wanted to pop in and express how excited I am to get my hands on these modules! Hoping to see some news soon but also agree that waiting is something I’m okay with. Best wishes!
