Update 15 - Summary and Notes

Hey guys! New update. As always, I’m not part of the team and this is a summary for anyone who missed the Kickstarter Update.

The team waited most of September for the manufacturer to run a test batch of 300 so the team could run QA tests before the main run.

The run was shipped to Tbilisi, GA and they were kind enough to share the tracking link. Annoyingly, the manufacturer shipped using the wrong currier, so it’s taking longer than anticipated. They’re going to assemble what they can, print and pack some cheat sheets, and prepare the fulfillment warehouse.

While waiting they were going over packaging designs, but their provider couldn’t make it work. Instead of foam inserts, everything’s going to be in zip-lock ESD bags. Personally, I like this call; using a cardboard box for kits can be done down the line and the ESD bags make storage safer

The jumpers for the kits came in, all only had male ends. The supplier admitted the error and ordered a bunch from manufacture. Luckily, that’s running in parallel to the shipping delay, so it’s not multiple delays compounding.

I get that it’s taking a while, but I know it’ll be worth it in the end. I could easily see MicroRack modules on racks at music stores and maker-oriented places like the few remaining Radio Shacks. Even places like Best Buy and MicroCenter. The packaging matters to those places.

Has there been any mention of the 80k stretch goal (travel case)?

I haven’t heard anything. Honestly, I didn’t even realize they hit that goal. Honestly, it’ll probably be an after-launch thing.

That said, some of us in the community are working on our own solution for the time being. It’s really a matter of not really being able to figure out how tall the case needs to be, ya know?

Update: I’ve been tracking the shipment via the FedEx Link. It’s been in Tbilisi, waiting for local approval for release, since October 9. After that, it’ll be delivered or picked up by the team.

Everything is a step closer, guys.
